I feel sooo happy!

I have a new companion!!! Her name is Hermana Gutierrez and she is from El Salvador. She likes cleaning, fixing things, and is a beast at listening to the spirit. Basically, I am quite satisfied with my new cherra (friend). Hermana Tumbaico, another capa, stayed with us for three days while waiting for her comp. It was a bit crazy to be in a trio, but I loved it. This week we have been contacting like crazy! We found two new future investigators and we have a truckload of citas for the next semana. Gimena is still capisima. She bore her testimony to us yesterday. She says that the gospel fills her heart. That is so true. The gospel gives us both a divine purpose and a way to get there. It has been amazing to see the changes in her life. She should be getting baptized sometime in May (maybe on my birthday, the 23rd...)

New companion - same area!

This week I finished up my training! Crazy how time flies. Also, I spent my last week with Dear Hermana Quispe. I learned so much from her. My new companion is Hermana Gutierrez. She will arrive tonight. She is from El Salvador and I´m sure she will be super awesome.

The highlight of this week was teaching Gimena. We finally talked with her husband. He knows everything about the church, but never was baptized (We can fix that!) Gimena woke up at 5am this morning to say goodbye to Hermana Quispe in the terminal. Que Capa, eh!

The Elders had three baptisms on Saturday-Three children with huge testimonies.

I feel so blessed to be here. There are moments where the spirit is incredibly strong and I know without a doubt that God lives. 

Challenge: Study the talk: Attributes of Christ by Elder Bednar. Then choose one attribute of Christ to work on everyday this week. There is a chapter about Christ-like attributes in Preach my Gospel if you need help.

Easter and more miracles

Dearest Family,

This week was filled with moments of pure joy. There are hard things on the mission, but the miracles fill my heart and more than make up for all the tough stuff. I am so happy to be here at this moment. Every once in a while it hits me just how lucky I am to be serving a mission. I wouldn´t trade it for anything.

Highlight time:

1. Divisiones with Hna. Rassmussen. That Hermana is a champ! I learned so much from her and how she works. 

2. We found the less-active daughter of a member while knocking doors. She just had a baby. One thing I´ve learned is that we don´t find people by chance. Florencia needs the gospel in her life.

3. Hilda, a less-active, wants to go to the temple. We are helping her with OLA (orar, leer, asistir a la iglesia) (pray, read, attend church)

4. I taught an English class. Then we played fruit basket. Now Elder Ferreira knows what a cherry is. Capo! (awesome!!)

5. Gimena and her mother came to church. Oh, I should mention that we started teaching her mother, Estella. It was the most amazing experience. I felt that I've met her mother before (pre-earth life, maybe?) In principios del evangelio (Gospel Principles) we learned about the priesthood. After, Estella asked for a priesthood blessing for her health. Such faith! After the blessing she gave me a big hug and told everyone that I bring her a lot of comfort. She is a special spirit and I can already see her in white.

6. Maria, who has been MIA for 2 weeks, happened to drive past us in the street. She stopped her car and gave us hugs. Then we set a cita (appointment) for Tuesday. Another miracle!!!

7. Hermana Quispe is wonderful. We've had ups and downs, but I can honestly say that I love my companion. She has such a strong testimony and a love of the scriptures. This week is her last in the mission, but I am confident that she will stay strong in the gospel for the rest of her life. I´m lucky to have had her as my trainer.

Feliz Pascua!

The highlight of this week was obviously conference! I sat in the gringo room and watched it in English. There were many gold nuggets of inspiration. One theme I really liked is the preparatory nature of this life. God has a perfect plan. We have our families so we can practice being happy in this celestial unit. We are tested so that we can use our agency to become more like God. I know with all of my heart that God and Christ live. We are children of God. Our purpose in this life is to become more like God. There is no other goal that will bring us more happiness and fulfillment than the goal to be a righteous follower of Christ.

Also, we had a zone testimony meeting about the Book of Mormon. I know that every word in that book is from God. It contains our plan, the blue print for what we can become. Read it and savor every word. Apply the stories to yourself. Seek after that mighty change that the word of God brings.

General Conference is coming

Her email this week was titled after the famous song: 

 "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"

Time is flying by too fast! Who is excited for general conference? I am! Plus, we have a brilliantly golden investigator who is going to watch it with us :) 

Highlights of the week:

1. Zone conference with pres was basically a spiritual feast. Then we had a physical feast of empanadas. Double win!

2. Our golden investigator is Jimena (Gimena...I´ve been spelling it wrong.) She keeps all of her compromisos, loves the book of Mormon, prays with her husband,  and even downloaded some hymns by herself. Hna Q and I wanted to cry tears of joy. Plus, her husband is a menos activo. It´s like a dream come true!

3. Women´s conference!!!! It was in spanish...so I didn´t catch everything, but I felt the spirit. I love the videos about the family. Families are ordained of God. 

4. Our rockin Pascua fiesta. We made chocolate eggs. Mine were feo, so I ate them before anyone could take pictures.
