If it tastes good normal, it will taste even better fried. :)

This week was full of lots of activities.

1. On Tuesday we had conference with President Rogers. We learned how to use Preach my Gospel as an effective tool in our missionary work.

2. On Friday we did Divisions!!! I was with Hermana Beard. We worked so hard and laughed even harder. We started our day with yoga on the beach. It was the best and I learned a lot.

3. We had dinner with the newly baptized Gabriella and Cesar and their 3 kiddos. We made fried mashed potatoes filled with ham and eggs. It's called Bomba de papa, or potato bombs. The motto down here is that if it tastes good normal, it will taste even better fried. :) It's like a mix of southern and Italian food.During the dinner Cesar offered me another bomba. I said, [No, gracias. Estoy gordita.] [No thanks, I'm getting a little fat.] 5 minutes later my chair broke. I said, [Vio? Por eso no como mas.] [You see? For this reason I don't eat more.] We all laughed so hard. :D

4.Women's Conference!!! It was awesome. Hna Burt and I watched it English in the chapel. I loved the call to be virtuous women. I also loved Elder Uchtdorf's talk. 

Challenge: Write down a question before conference. We need to put in the work to receive personal revelation. Don{t forget to invite a friend to watch conference together. Even if they say no, you've planted the seed.

Hump Day!

This week Hermana Burt and I were walking around like the camel in the Geico commercial. She would ask me "Hna Davis, what day is it on Thursday?"

I would reply, "HUMP DAY!!!" On Thursday the 17th I completed 9 months in the mission. Time flies when you are in a coma (family inside joke.)

The funny moment of the week was when we met with a menos activa that drinks a lot of wine. We were having a lesson with her yesterday and I{m pretty sure that she was drunk. She was talking about how she needs to study the scriptures because one day she may be a prophet...I think we need to go over the retention lessons.

To celebrate my special day we ate lunch with the Muñiz family. The hermana is from Bolivia and she cooks better than Paula Deen. Her little daughter, Sasha, says the funniest things. She wanted to do my hair, so I sat down on her couch and let her comb it out. She said, "Your hair is messed up from the wind. My special barbie conditioner will help you." She then squeezed a glob of gel into her hand and slops it on the crown of my head. My hair has been gloriously soft for 3 days straight! I may buy me some barbie detangler gel...

On Tuesday we made spicy empanadas as a district. We made almost 70 empanadas. The secret ingredient is Locoto powder. It's about as potent as it sounds. Me gusta picante :D

We were doing some contacts in our area. We found some igloo-like houses that give off a starwars kind of vibe. We decided to knock the doors. This one man opened up and said, "Pucha chicas, I'm probably the least religious person you could meet. I'm really not interested."  He was about to close the door when I said, "I really like your house." He got a big smile on his face and let us take a peek inside from the door way. That's another thing I can cross of my mission bucket list - knock the door of an igloo. :)

The miracle of this week happened on a Sunday afternoon. We had passed by the house of this menos activa family multiple times and no one was ever there. We decided to pass by yesterday. We knocked once and then the family pulled up to their house in their car. We were able to get in and talk with them a bit. We scheduled another cita and hopefully we can get them coming back to Church.

I really love learning about the life of Christ. We have this one Menos Activa who feels unworthy to pray and doesn{t feel like she wants to return to the church. I testified to her that God loves her and Satan is working against her because he knows that she is a special daughter of God. I could feel the spirit speaking through my humble spanish to reach her heart.

This week I have loved reading in the New Testament about the life of Jesus. I love the miracles he performed and how he taught eternal principles with a simple parable. If you aren't reading the New Testament before Christmas, I encourage you to do so. I have felt my testimony grow as I read.

Keep getting excited for conference! Just think, we get to hear a message from a living prophet of God!

This week we visited a lot of less active members. One member told us that we always share the exact scripture that she needs. It was a good feeling to know that the spirit was working through us to help the lost sheep come back to the fold.

As a zone this week we all met at the dock in Puerto Madryn to go on a run. The sun was rising and the sky was filled with vibrant yellows, oranges, and blues. It was one of those moments where I felt such pride to be serving in my mission :) Now I can officially say, "I´m Aubrey Davis and I love long runs on the beach."

We found an old investigator while knocking doors. She is more interested in learning English than learning about the gospel. We helped her with her homework and told her about the English clases that we offer in the church. Maybe she´ll let us teach her the missionary lessons in English :)

I had another bad dog experience this week. We were contacting in the morning in a neighborhood with a lot of dogs. Hermana Burt began playing with this giant flea-infested mutt. The we left him to clap at the next door. The dog followed us and went to the bathroom all over my skirt, leg, and shoe. I have officially been cured of my childhood love of dogs! (just joking...kind of.)

We also went to another wedding party this week. We listened to 70´s music in English and ate empanadas and chicken. The Argentines really know how to pachangear. (party)

Challenge: Get pumped for General Conference!!! I have been reading through old conference talks and I am super excited to get some new reading material :) Also, Invite a friend to listen to conference with you. I´m giving you plenty of time so you can think of some one and invite them.

Dear Friends and Family:

We found a sign in Centro that said, "Misionero, el vino de la gente" which means "missionary: the wine of the people." I thought it was funny. Hopefully, like wine, my testimony keeps improving with time :D

Weekly Highlights:
1. We put a fecha with Eugenio and Carolina. Eugenio is 38 and has mild disabilities. He loves learning about Jesus and is excited to come to church.
Carolina is 71 and I'm not sure she understands much. It will be good practice as we teach them the doctrines simply so they can understand.
2. We had a super awesome lunch with the familia Calizaya. The hermana is a menos activa, but she is coming back hard core! The rest of her family aren't members. We laughed and had a great time as we ate lamb and potatoes. Then we shared the Gracias a que El vive video. Hopefully we can start teaching the rest of the family. 
3. I got bit by a dog. This isn't really a highlight, but I can cross it off of my mission bucket list. The dog stuck it's head through the fence and grabbed the top of my arm. Luckily I was wearing a jacket so he didn't break the skin.
4. Grabriel and Cesar and their daughter got baptized!!! It has been such a miracle to see the family change.

Challenge: Start your day with scripture study. Our mission president challenged us to read all of the new testament by Christmas day. You can join me if you want. The catch is that we can't use any of our study time to read. I read while I'm eating breakfast or in the little islands of time throughout the day. It helps me feel the spirit and think about Christ.

Also, a Birthday shout out to my Dad. He now has 49 years of concentrated wisdom and life experience under his belt. I am grateful for his wonderful example to me.
